In the famous novel “The Quiet American” of Graham Greene, Phat Diem was described that the cathedral was "more Buddhist than Christian". Indeed, this church was constructed in the Sino-Vietnamese style, blended with stone walls built in the European neo-Gothic style.

. Located in a vast expanse of wilderness, Khai Dinh tomb looks like a magnificent palace perched on the slope of a limestone mountain. It is an accessible by climbing 109 stone steps. Unlike the construction materials used for the other tomb, Khai Dinh mausoleum was built with modern materials such as steel and reinforced concrete.

Located in Bac Can Province, 240 km from Hanoi, Ba Be lake is one of the biggest fresh water lake in Vietnam. The lake bed is made up of limestone with millions of crags and crevasses that are ideal for a large variety of marine life - there are over a hundred of species of freshwater fish in the lakes. It spanning over 500ha with 8km long, and 2km wide at its widest spot.
